Our Story

Luxembourg Africa Investments Association (LuxAfrica) was officially formed as an Asbl in February 2014. Our primary objective is to actively promote business relationship between Luxembourg and Africa, and in general between Europe and Africa.

Our members are active professionals with skills in various sectors from diverse geographical backgrounds
LuxAfrica is thus a catalyst playing an instrumental role in promoting direct business contacts between Africa & Europe, and Africa & Luxembourg in particular.

The association provides a wide spectrum of business actors with the opportunity to explore new possibilities on the African continent. 
The association, through its activities (round tables, article publications, presentation of business opportunities) also aims to bring some expertise to Luxembourg authorities and advocate for greater level of cooperation with Africa.

  • Promote and support Luxembourgish-African related business initiatives.
  • Build a knowledge base for our members in respect of the African and Luxembourgish business environments.
  • Provide our members and stakeholders with value added professional network.
  • Organize conferences, business appointments, receptions or other events on topical issues in a spirit of foresight and investment facilitation.
  • Partner with organizations having the same objectives in Luxembourg, in Europe or in Africa.

Meet the committee

  • Twagirayezu Valere
    Valere Twagirayezu
    Chairman of the Board - Founding member

    Valere is a financial services professional with 17 years of experience in Luxembourg. After 6 years in Belgium as financial accountant, he moved to Luxembourg where he worked in the accounting services and fund administration services.

    He was managing director at Deloitte Luxembourg, managing director and head of Luxembourg office at Saltgate and is currently Conducting officer – Head of Investor Services.

  • Bertrand Moupfouma
    Bertrand Moupfouma
    Vice president - Founding member

    Bertrand is a lawyer and founding partner of Themis Lex a law firm based in Luxembourg.

    He is active in M&A practice, corporate, investment fund, financing transaction, with a focus on venture capital, private equity and real estate with over 15 years of practice. He has also developed a strong expertise relating to intellectual property and communication technologies.

  • Dusingize Marie Natacha
    Dusingize Maria Natacha
    Vice president - Founding Member

    With 10 years’ experience in Banking and Investment funds services, Natacha holds a Master in Political Science and International Relations and is currently working as client relationship manager at Degroof Petercam Asset Services (Luxembourg).

  • Robert Shyirambere
    Robert Shyirambere
    Secretary General - Founding member

    Robert works as Finance Director at Luxembourg Finance House, he has more than 23 years of experience in banking and trust industry in Luxembourg.

    He started his career in the banking sector at JPMorgan Luxembourg as Securities Back Officer for more than 4 years and then moved to the trust industry.

    Robert was Senior Accounts Manager at JTC, leading the accounting and reporting for Real Estate and Private Equity clients. He forged his expertise in accounting, tax, VAT and legal compliance at TMF Group Luxembourg.

  • Thierry Ishimwe
    Thierry Ishimwe
    Head of Treasury

    Thierry is a department manager in a Management Consulting firm, With proven experience in Insurance, Corporate & investment banking (CIB).

    He specializes in transaction banking, payments, cash management, and has acquired acknowledged skills in Cash & Securities post-trade services, corporate treasury, and digital transformation.
    He offers a blend of financial acumen and technological intelligence

    Passionate about macroeconomics and financial services, with a strong preference for emerging markets, he aims to use his advisory and financing skills to support boosting economic development in Africa. He is also interested in private equity, venture capital investments.

  • Madia Camara
    Madia Camara
    Vice President - Corporate relations

    Madia is a counsel at Arendt & Medernach SA in the investment management department, where she focuses on alternative investment funds structuring, debt funds and private equity transactions at large.

    She has been working as a lawyer for over 12 years and has a real interest in encouraging more investment transactions between Europe (and Luxembourg in particular) and Africa.

    Madia holds a bilingual master degree in law and English from France as well as an LLM in US legal studies from California. She is also a New York qualified lawyer.

  • Yves-Justice Djimi
    Yves-Justice DJIMI 
    Vice President - External & Public relations

    Yves-Justice is a Corporate Finance, Private Equity & Family Office trained Lawyer.

    Yves obtained his Master of Laws degree (LL.M) from the London School of Economics (LSE) and then started his career in the City of London as a Solicitor of the Supreme Court of England and Wales. He is also admitted to the Paris Bar and is fluent in both French, English and speaks Portuguese.

    Yves further holds a Master degree from the Institut d’Etudes Politiques de Paris (Sciences Po) and an undergraduate law degree (with honours) from the Sorbonne. 

    Yves was a founding Member of the Africa Presidential Council set up by French president, and a fouding member of the Swiss African Business Circle.

    Audrey Gah
    Vice president

    Audrey Gah, founder of LABEL (Lux Afro-Black Excellence Leaders), an ASBL which main goal is bringing together Community, Culture, Leadership, and Entrepreneurship for minority. We want everyone to feel close and connected, with a positive and encouraging atmosphere where leaders emerge and entrepreneurial spirit is sparked.

    She started her career in Amazon 10 years ago and supported various teams across Amazon – from Amazon Kindle to Amazon Web Services and Globally led Amazon Black Employee Resource Group.

    With a background in Inclusion, Diversity & Equity and Program Management. Audrey is a transformational leader with proven history of cultivating, fostering, leading diverse global teams committed to Diversity, Inclusion & Equity.
